Archie “Teddy” Brailey, Jr.
1944-2025
Archie “Teddy” Brailey, Jr. answered his Master’s call on April 16, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC after a long illness.
Archie, affectionally known as “Teddy” was educated in the Lee County public schools. He worked various jobs including at the Lynchburg Gin, and Reeves Brothers of South Carolina. After relocating in Springfield, MA, “Teddy” worked at Ames and Hasbro until he retired. “Teddy” moved back to South Carolina in 1999. He was an entrepreneur with the Nu-Way Cleaners in Lynchburg and had a produce route where he sold fruits and vegetables. His last employment was at SEC in Timmonsville, SC.
“Teddy” was a faithful member and chairman of the Trustee Board at King Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He also sung on the Male Chorus until his health declined.
“Teddy” leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years Mrs. Hattie Mae Brailey. He leaves 9 children, Cynthia (Everett) Coleman of Lithonia, GA, Sybil (Brian) Ashman of Decatur, GA, Reta Brailey of Conyers, GA, Sheila Brailey of Lynchburg, SC, Katrina Brailey of the home, Myrissa (Jaulil) Pearson of Bishopville, SC, Barbara (Frederick) Wagner of Norfolk, VA, Lavourialyn (Charles) Evans of Florence, SC and Eric (Cynthia) Johnson of Olanta, SC. A sister Josephine Brailey of Brooklyn, NY and one brother Ernest (Elizabeth) Braily of Lynchburg, SC. His favorite niece Roslyn Joy Wilson of Holly Hill, SC, 36 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
“Teddy” was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Queen Shand Brailey, brothers Guy Wilson, and Willie Brailey and his son Tommy Lee Brailey.
